GYNOSTEMMA TEA ![]() Adam's Comments:
More Information: Gynostemma Tea is made from 100% Gynostemma Pentaphyllum, which is an all-natural green tea that contains no caffeine. Gynostemma tea has been traditionally used in China and Japan for thousands of years. This herb grows wild in the mountainous regions of South Central China, an area renowned for the longevity of it's inhabitants as well as their low rates of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The Chinese and Japanese have used it for centuries as an antioxidant, stress reliever, and detoxification herb. Gynostemma Pentaphyllum, according to one of the research reports, is one of the more powerful adaptogenic herbs known. An adaptive is a substance that helps the body to "adapt" to particular stresses put upon it; a substance that may help to bring about or restore homeostasis in various systems of the body. Homeostasis plays a very important role in regulating reproductive and digestive functions, enhancement of your immune system, and physical performance. Due to the discovery of many health-giving qualities, this powerful plant is often referred to as "miracle grass." Gynostemma's favorable effects are similar to ginseng and are often referred to as "Southern Ginseng." However, the effects of Gynostemma differ from the effects of ginseng. The concentration of special saponins, which are very similar to glycosides found in Ginseng, is several times higher. In a pharmacological review, more than 82 individual saponins have been identified. Most of these phytochemicals are helpful in maintaining a normal balance in the body. Due to these properties, Gynostemma has attracted the attention of many medical and pharmacological scientists from all over the world. Many medical journals have published articles about the beneficial effects of this herb. Gynostemma was rated among the ten most important tonic herbs at the1991 International Conference of Traditional Medicine in Beijing, China. Directions: Gynostemma Tea contains no caffeine and can be enjoyed at any time of day and as often as you like. Pour boiling water over a tea bag or proper amount of loose leaves into a 8 - 15 oz. tea cup: steep for 1-5 minutes depending on your desired strength. It can be made into a cold beverage by simply adding ice or a few drops of lemon juice for preferred flavor.
